Jeff's Artist Statement: Being proud to say that I have spent most of my life in Madison and Southern Wisconsin as an artist, I have known that trying to define the cultural landscape (urban & rural) would spirit my artwork. Primarily using my own photos helps capture ideas and images I can refer to in my compositions. A style that seems to describe my work might be “impressionistic realism”, with the point of interest directing an approach to each painting. Mundane is okay with me, sometimes life is – yet it inspires artwork with a candid viewpoint. Portraits have also long been a significant portion of my portfolio.
