Nicaragua Las Diosas
Medium-bodied with mild acidity and flavors of tobacco, hazelnut and cocoa. "Las Diosas" (literally, "The Goddesses") is a network of four small grower cooperatives dedicated to the respect for women's rights, as well as the promotion of issues with women's rights at the center. In just under 20 years since its founding, this relatively small organization (consisting of only 250 members) has made big strides in both production capacity and social politics. Unfortunately, much of Latin America was hit hard by La Roya and drought and Las Diosas suffered catastrophic losses of both coffee and other crops.
