This coffee is produced by 3 small farms located around of the rim of Pocos de Caldas, which is a volcanic crater (or caldera). Fazenda Rainha is just outside of the wonderful city of Pocos de Caldas. This region has a heavy Italian influence, and many of the restaurants in the city serve authentic Italian cuisine. Even Italians that visit this region claim it resembles the Sicilian countryside. The Cup of Excellence is the most esteemed award given in the coffee industry. These awards are a result of a strict competition that selects the very best coffee produced in that country for that particular year.
