French Sumatra
We start with Grade 1 heirloom Arabica beans also called ‘Mandheling’, in reference to the ethnic group growing them. The Mandheling beans are grown in the South Tapanuli region on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. Ancora's French Sumatra is a classic Sumatra without the musty grit but the dark (French) roast that we apply to develop an intense, bold and satisfying body. The subtle caramel, dark chocolate and spice come through as the cup cools and yields to a long satisfying smoky finish.
