Nearly all of the coffee produced in Guatemala is naturally shade-grown. German immigrants began coffee production in Guatemala at the end of the 19th century. Today, over 200 years later, it is the world’s 6th largest exporter of coffee and fully one quarter of the nation’s citizens make a living from coffee. Our coffee is grown by farmer-members of the Chajulense Cooperative in the Quiche region in the western Highlands. According to Chajulense Cooperative, their member farmers earn well more than the minimums because of the Fair Trade system.This crop of Organic Fair Trade Guatemala is clean and well-rounded with an exciting aroma. Our signature full city roast enhances the coffee's inherent soft smoky flavors. Your palate will detect a peppery, spicy twist and bittersweet chocolate and black cherry flavor notes.
